Between Dogs and Wolves, released on February 17th, 2012
Review by: Matthew Ford
Clover, of Kingston, NY, and Stairwell Sea, (formerly known as Warsyinum) hailing from Pittsfield, released a split EP entitled Between Dogs and Wolves. I will fondly look back on this day for some time, as I’ve been going to Stairwell Sea shows since before they were Stairwell Sea so anything new from these guys is interesting to me. Their side of the EP is also the first released material after the departure of lead guitarist Nate Calebaugh. Having debuted “Useless Machines” (an angry song if I’ve ever heard one ) last year, I was expecting more of the same hardcore breakdowns and crunch. Machines exhibited one of my favorite of Devan’s screams as he curses us all for, well, being useless machines. I was pleasantly surprised to find what I was looking for and much more.
